Vintage Inspired
Hairstyles
If you are getting tired of the same hairstyle and hair cut,
then be inspired by years gone by.

The elegant and chic hairstyles worn by women of the past
are a true inspiration to be a bit more experimental and
creative with our hair each day.
Looking and feeling glamourous could be all down to having
spent time doing your hair in the morning, so it stays perfect
every day. Think about it the day before in case you need to
put it in pin curls overnight...or braid it for some 70s
waves.
Adding combs, pins, nets, flowers and other hair accessories
can give you those vintage inspired hairstyles quite simply.
Make sure you have lots of hairspray to fix your do in place,
and a comb in your purse for emergency touchups.
Pick an era, and be inspired. Go back to the Regency period
(Jane Austen hairstyles) and create some delicate rag-curls and
pin them into an elegant updo for your next formal event.
Or go for a medieval hairstyle, keep things loose and simple
by plaiting your hair in different ways, or letting your hair
hang wavy or curly. Think Maid Marian in Robin
Hood.
1950's Hairstyles
Post war hairstyles are glamorous and require a bit of
practice to copy. Make sure you have a stash of pins and a
whole lot of hairspray.
Learn how to create a Marilyn Monroe inspired hairstyle, by
practicing your pincurl set. Twist wet hair and pin curls to
your head, cover with a gown, wait until it dries and then
remove the pins.
Or go for a classic perm. But to stop it looking too dated,
get a loose wave perm that you can curl tighter when you have a
special occasion.
Watch Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor movies for some
great style inspiration.
80's Hairstyles
It wasn't just permed, it was big and frizzy too! Heat
styling and hair coloring were huge, so recreate this look with
a blonde do, with plenty of big curls that are slightly
backcombed.
Add a lace headband or accessory or a giant bow to your
current hairdo to nod to the fashion of the 80s. Just steer
clear of the mullets.

Ghostbusters and The Breakfast
Club for more ideas on 1980s hairstyles.

as are the clothes.
